📅 Research Expedition Itinerary (7N/8D)

Day 1: Arrival Port Blair – Expedition Briefing & Permit Processing

Arrive at Port Blair. Welcome by research coordinator. Attend mandatory safety & research ethics briefing. Collect special permits for Little Andaman & Interview Island. Visit Anthropological Museum for background on tribal communities. Overnight at Port Blair research guest house.

Day 2: Depart to Little Andaman – Coastal Ecosystem Survey

Early morning ferry to Little Andaman (research vessel). Post-lunch, begin coastal ecosystem survey – mangrove mapping, beach profiling, and marine debris documentation. Interaction with local forest range officer. Overnight at research camp near Hut Bay.

Day 3: Little Andaman – Limestone Caves Exploration & Tribal Buffer Zone Study

Trek to the pristine limestone caves of Little Andaman. Document geological formations and bat species. Afternoon visit tribal buffer zone (as per permissions) – study traditional ecological knowledge with authorized liaison. Evening data compilation & photography session.

Day 4: Little Andaman – Biodiversity Documentation & Night Transect

Full day biodiversity documentation – herpetofauna, bird surveys, and butterfly transects. Evening special night transect to observe nocturnal fauna (with forest department escort). Campfire discussion on conservation challenges.

Day 5: Interview Island – Wildlife Census & Estuarine Crocodile Study

Chartered research vessel to Interview Island (restricted area). Conduct wildlife census – focus on endemic Andaman wild pigs, monitor estuarine crocodile habitats. Participate in camera trap data collection. Overnight at forest rest house (basic research accommodation).

Day 6: Interview Island – Forest Dept Interaction & Conservation Planning

Interactive session with Assistant Conservator of Forests – learn about island management plans, invasive species control, and tribal rehabilitation policies. Afternoon free for independent research / sample collection. Evening return to Port Blair.

Day 7: Data Analysis & Report Drafting – Certificate Ceremony

Full day at Port Blair research centre – data cleaning, species identification with expert, and preliminary report writing. Evening certificate distribution ceremony from Seazen Research Wing. Farewell dinner with team.

Day 8: Departure – Submission of Research Summary

After breakfast, final submission of biodiversity checklist / research summary to coordinating agency. Transfer to Port Blair airport. Expedition concludes with lifelong scientific memories.
